The Foreman Library Collection:


Overview:
​Your library’s collection of nearly 10,000 items (available for student and staff use) includes:
  • Circulating books.
  • e-books available through SOAR catalog.
  • General reference materials.
  • Spanish and French language materials.
  • Free online resources and databases (some publicly accessible/some accessible only by Foreman staff and students).

The Foreman library organizes its books into 5 broad collections:
  • Fiction Collection: This collection combines YA popular fiction titles, the "classics", short story anthologies, and works of contemporary fiction. Arranged alphabetically by author's last name.

  • Non-Fiction Collection: Books written by subject area experts about real-world topics. This collection is arranged according to the conventions of the Dewey Decimal System: Individual books are assigned to one of the ten general subject classifications and then given greater subject specificity within the general classification.   • Graphic Titles (Graphic Novels) Collection: ​Found in 741.5. This collection comprises works of visual narrative. Ex. comic book formats, Anime series, Manga series, etc.

  • Chicago Collection: Collection located to the right of the Circulation Desk--Call Number 977.31. Expansive collection of material about Chicago's social, political, and intellectual history.

  • Foreign Language Collection: Books in Spanish and French that support the curriculum of the World Languages Department.
